We aim to reduce the carbon footprint of our energy products by 50 per cent from our current (2020) levels of emissions by 2030. At the same time, we are setting the foundations for a 100 per cent carbon-neutral future, by 2050 at the latest.
For more than 135 years, UGI has been supplying energy to the world. We have been an actor in the development of our society, as we know it today. Today, we offer low-carbon alternatives to oil and gas to residential customers and business that are not on the energy grid. But though conventional LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) has significantly lower levels of carbon emissions than oil, it is not a long-term answer to the climate challenges we are facing.
That is why we are committed, together with the rest of the liquid gas industry, to investing heavily in increasing the production of rLG (renewable Liquid Gas) - an energy source with almost zero carbon emissions. These investments will make it possible to cover the demand for conventional LPG entirely and transition also customers off grid to more sustainable solutions leaving no one behind.
Each year we deliver approximately 2 million tons of LPG to our customers in Europe, creating an estimated carbon footprint of 6.5 million tons of CO2. Our ambition is to reduce our impact by more than 3.25 million tons by 2030.
Our future will be Sustainable, Affordable and Convenient.

We have the ambition to reduce the carbon footprint of our energy products by 50 per cent from our current (2020) levels of emissions.
This is to be done by 2030. At the same time, we are setting the foundation for a 100 per cent carbon-neutral future by 2050 at the latest.
As renewable liquid gases re-use a significant portion of the existing traditional LPG distribution and storage supply chain, there is a relatively limited investment required.
This means that renewable liquid gases will be affordable as well as readily available. It is our long-term goal to offer our customers a carbon-neutral alternative to the LPG they use today. At the same time, we – both today and in the future – can contribute with a renewable alternative to companies that today are fuelled by higher carbon solutions.
Renewable liquid gas is a drop-in solution, which means existing boilers and heating equipment can be re-used, thus, avoiding new investments and potential installation disruptions.
Furthermore, it is possible to mix renewable liquid gas with conventional LPG, allowing a smooth transition towards decarbonising heating homes across Europe.
